This morning, I feel really bad and somewhat disappointing about the current project when I awake.
The initial idea became totally rubbish according to the simulation.
"What is the next?" as always I ask myself this routine question when occurring difficulties.
Yesterday was a bad day. I was too tired to think anything clearly. I was just indulged in the hopeless simulation and enjoying some naive play around.
At the deepest point of disappointing, I got an idea. "How about using the spotlight to lighting the scene and get some intrinsic shading, which can be used for depiction?" I asked myself. This is the great moment. I became suddenly happy and confident.
Doing research is a journey full of joy, discovery, disappointing, hopeless...
Just keep going!

[Life] Write blogs in English
Writing blogs in English makes it possible to write blogs daily and easily.
I will record my foot traces and talk out my heart.
Writing down the bad or good feelings, especially the worst one, is an entertainment.
My broken heart got healed after I crying and telling the story out.

[Life] Read "You and your research"
This morning, I had free time to read an interesting article about doing research, which is the transcript of one of the talks given by Richard Hamming.
My heart vibrated with the words and rhythms on the paper. And my mind dances with the shared experience and lessons. It is an illuminating and encouraging speech, especially when I'm in difficult time.

[Life] I recieve the worst feedback for my conference talk
Yesterday I got the worst email from my advisor.
He forwarded me an email full of criticism for my conference talk from a "top" guy.
The top man sounds really mad. He used all the extremely bad words on the world.
and titled the email as "A word of advise".
I received lots of kind or highly-praising words from other top guys.
I was surprised by this email.
It is astonishing.
My adviser cc this email to my coauthor and colleague. Furthermore he told this email to my other colleagues in the same subgroup. He always only talks about the bad things and never talks about the really good and positive response from peers. After the tedious comments from my advisor, I fight back and gave several convincing examples that my work and talk deserves not only criticism but also praise. My advisor withdraws a little bit but still he wanted to defeat me. What I cannot understand is why he wants to discourage his student and makes him depressed.
At the right beginning when I got this email, I was surprised and got excited. I told myself it is a good reason to work hard and perform nicely. After the group meeting and lots of discussion with my wife, I turned to be angry. It is unfair to only focus on the dark side of my work and talk.
Actually my work and talk are quite successful.
My heart, however start to hurt even though I think those words are just noise.
I talked a lot about those related issues with my wife on the way to home. And when I arrived at home, I found I lost the key for the newly repaired door.
Being depressed and unhappy, I went back to the university and look for the key all the way.
Now, I hate my advisor and the "top" man.
Finally, I found the big key quietly lying on the gound at the door of office. It is clear that I was angry when I left my office and moved too strongly.
Suddenly, I gain strength again and become happy. I joke to my wife that a small victory can save a broken heart at the right time.
Never give up!

[Life] How to improve my pronunciation?
The right way to improve my pronunciation is to pronounce each word clearly, accurately and most importantly slowly. To articulate each word and sentence clearly is a similar solution to write clearly. My handwriting became very bad in the day when I turn to write everything swiftly. Being impatient to keep my writing paced, I lose the chance to learn the right way to write neatly and nicely.
To put them further, I always rush to do everything and waste the opportunity to do everything neatly.

[Life] Pronounce correctly
I start to pay attention to correct pronunciation. The good way I found is to learn from examples appearing on the Merriam-Webster website. I also learn how to pronounce the words correctly with the guide of pronunciation tag on under the word entries.

[Life] Back to 3D scanning
Today will become a milestone of my life. After long-term exploring and painstaking trial-and-error, I turn back to 3D scanning, where I have established a unique kingdom.
Like two years ago, I found out some creative and exciting applications for 3D scanning. The basic ideas are so intuitive and attracted me totally and immediately. The system will be simple and neat again and the results will be destined to be high quality and impressive.
Life should be always simple for a creative soul.
All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
-- Sir Winston Churchill
